6th November 2005: Colin & Karen Cater, Folk Calendar Customs - Celebration & Tradition, Religion & Community

Colin & Karen live in Essex and are well-known on the folk scene. They are both accomplished musicians; Colin has written a number of articles on folklore for Pagan Dawn magazine, and Karen is an inspired artist. Together they run Hedingham Fair, producing hand-made folklore & Celtic cards and calendars, combining Karen's bold illustrations and Colin's considered text.

13th November 2005: Damien O'Dell, Local Folk Tales & Ghost Stories

Damien will be talking about some his many adventures as a paranormal investigator, and he will also be discussing and signing his new book Ghostly Bedfordshire Reinvestigated. There will be an opportunity to ask him questions about the paranormal, and about his group Anglia Paranormal Investigation Society which he formed in 2002.

20th November 2005: Pete Jennings, Folk Song & The Oral Tradition

Pete hails from Suffolk, and is steeped in the folk tradition of that county. He was responsible for reviving the Cutty Wren tradition in Middleton, an ancient custom combining Molly dance and song with the Celtic myth of the wren, performed in the Suffolk village each Boxing Day. He was at one time President of the Pagan Federation, and is the author of several books, including Pagan Paths and The Northern Tradition.

27th November 2005: Val Thomas, Folk Crafts - Spinning, Weaving & Dyeing

Val lives in Norfolk, where she helps to run the local pagan group. She regularly leads workshops (usually over-subscribed!) at the Leaping Hare conference each Spring. She is the author of A Witch's Kitchen, which covers food, drinks, herb lore, lotions & potions, incenses and candle-making, as well as the fabric crafts on which she will be speaking..
